The Poker Challenge- Day 3 - 0 views
It has been 3 days since i set out with my R50 challenge and boy oh boy has it been a roller coaster of a ride! The very 2nd hand that i played i hit the nuts on the flop and went up to R80 and then it went downhill.
I scraped the barrel with a mere R17.
I decided that it is pointless to play online poker and have no strategy and no real goal. Once i realized this, i set out to set a goal and strategy for myself.
I asked myself a few vital questions:
- Why am i doing this?
- How much do i want to have by the end of the month?
- What strategy should i adopt?
- What tables will i play?
- What type of game play will i adopt?
- What have a learnt so far?
Here are my answers:
- Challenge myself and see if it is myth for people to make a living by playing online poker.
- Well, i took an estimate and i think that a growth of 1000% off my initial investment of R50 should be a good return, if i compared it to playing R5000 per month for a professional poker player who would aim at a ROI( return of investment) of R50 000. So my goal is to have R300 by the end of the challenge period.
- The strategy that i am going to adopt is to play ‘tight aggressive’ and try not to limp into too many pots. I have realized that you do have to see flops if you want to make $$$ online, so the cheaper the limp, the better it is for me. If i don’t hit on the flop and there is a bet, then its game over for me.
- I looked at a few table options. Texas Hold ‘em is the game for me. I will concentrate on the 50c/R1 tables and take it from there. I will also choose my tables very carefully as I realized that there are some sharks out there who work the tables in pairs.
- Tight Aggressive.
- If i don’t hit on the flop-i wont win! Flushes always work out and straights always loose to a flush. Trips and straight dont hold up. Low cards seem to hit more often than high end cards.
