Downswing of note but recovered slightly - 0 views

I have been hitting cards over the past few months and in so doing, my bankroll has been building up steadily. Having said this, the past week has been a disaster of note as i have encountered my first downswing.

Its true, i don’t play ‘high stakes poker’ but i do play a high volume of hands per session. Naturally, a downswing for a player like me can be very expensive.

I’m happy to say though, that all my beats were handed by donkeys, getting lucky on the river with ridiculous hands. This past week was one week that my table image counted for nothing.

I took a few hours break this afternoon and decided to mix up my play and hit some other types of  tables and stakes(staying withing my bankroll of course).

I headed to my first jab at heads-up play! $10 (5c/10c stakes)was my budget for today and that was it. I tried to sit at a few tables but no player was willing to play for $10. I had a problem!

So i hit a few ring tables and built up to $20 in about 20mins. Sounds crazy but it happened. So i headed back to the tables and waited for someone.

It took about 3mins and POKERSTRUMF sat down with $23.70. First hand dealt the following:

  • All-In Stefk SB 1.Called $0.15
  • POKERSTRUMF BB 2: RAISED to $0.80
  • All-In Stefk 3. RE-RAISE $3.25
  • POKERSTRUMF 4. ALL IN $23.70
  • All-In Stefk 5. CALL $21.20
  • All-In Stefk SHOWS QHKH SUITED
  • POKERSTRUMF 8D8H

Maybe i played this hand like a bit of a donk but seeing that it was the first hand in the game, i felt it to be crucial to stamp authority and play a big hand like this. The pocket 8′s didnt scare me at all. I knew that my cards had better outs and thankfully i won.

In fact i won my losses back for the past few days over the course of this session and went on to tripple my bankroll for this month!
