Donks on Local South African Poker Rooms - 3 views
My inability to cash in on ‘local’ poker rooms is driving me insane. I haven’t put in any money, for that i am grateful for but i do spend time on the free rolls building my bankroll.
This week alone i have had 3 cashes and 2 bubbles. So not too bad for freerolls, considering that most people playing don’t care about playing and are just after an activity to pass time at work.
For me, its all about time on the felt, experience and building capital.
This past week, besides for cashing in on the freerolls, i have had a horrid time at the cash tables on these local rooms.I have analyzed my game, replayed hands, taken notes on players and i still get beaten all the time.
I have noticed that many of the players in South Africa, are gamblers and not poker players. The chase of the getting a hand for these players is far better than playing a strong and straight forward hand and winning.
I make this statement for a few reasons, here are 5:
- Players have no respect for a bet or raise pre-flop
- Play out of position all of the time
- Over bet and/or under bet continuously
- Move all in pre-flop with low pockets or Ace Rag hoping for a lucky card
- Justify a bad beat with the following words- ” but they are suited”
So what now, do i just abandon these sites and let the donkeys walk all over the poker players? Or do i go in for the kill and wait for my moment to slaughter?
For now, i will take a break and build my bankroll even further. Perhaps the answer is straight forward- to move up the ranks and play against better quality players! Who know, but i will keep you all posted.
