When i started playing poker, i had no idea of what i was doing, playing really bad hands 95% of the time spread across about 6 sites! Needless to say, i won big at first and then it went pear shaped. I couldn’t figure out what i was doing wrong and after some time off and sticking to freerolls, i managed to refine my game and weed my way through the competition to build a bankroll.
I then hit the rail and started again to give the cash games a go. This time around, i decided to play smart and pick better hands to start with and of course choose my moments wisely. In no time, the bankroll was almost gone! I couldn’t believe that i was loosing again despite my game being 70% tighter and 100% stronger!
So where was i going wrong?
The answer didn’t lie with what i was doing now,it was rather with what i in the past! Online poker is a very technical game compared to live poker games. The reason is that most players attempt to maximize the technology at their disposal, making use of statistics and player databases!
Yes, you heard me correctly! Your player database is available for the world to see and can be used against you or to your advantage. So when i realized that most of the online players that i was playing against were using this information, it made a lot of sense when they would call my raises, as their statistics showed that i was playing 90% of the flop!
So with my new game and experience ,i realized that i had to make a change! I have left those Poker Rooms for this reason and have started a new account with a new poker room. My game is strong, and so are my statistics. I am currently on an unbeaten streak of 22 Sit and Go wins in a row and have cashed in 3 big tournaments! And further more, the players keep folding to my raises!!! Amazing what statistics can do for your game!!!
