This past week, Honourable Judge N.B. Tuchten of the North Gauteng High Court handed down a decision to restrict online gambling operations within the borders of the Republic of South Africa for the foreseeable future.

In short, this affects any type of online gaming platform from online casinos to poker rooms. For a brief listing of the judgment(there is more to this list. so read up on it with your local authorities).

  • Internet operators who offer on-line gambling (interactive games) to the residents of the Republic.
  • A player or a punter who participates in on-line gambling transactions (interactive games).
  • Persons, entities or organisations which facilitate the provision of on-line gambling (interactive games) includes:
    Internet service providers
  • Financial transaction providers such as banks
  • Persons, entities or organisations which advertise or facilitate the advertisement of on-line gambling (interactive games) e.g. radio and television stations, print media, outdoor advertising agencies.

Poker Shuffle will conform with the law and cease to display or support any form of advertising material designed to promote or encourage any form of online gambling activity until further notice.
