Poker Shuffle Team at Grandwest - 123 views

Poker Shuffle 7 Champion
This past weekend, The Poker Shuffle ChampionsRicky Collins and Shaun Schutte, went to play the Sunday Tournament at Grandwest.
They were joined by a vibrant support crew of Mike Barfoot, Amalia das Neves, Stef Kruger(Me), Shaun Scholtz, Manny Lourenco, Louis Koch, Derek Hebbert and Malcolm Stockdale.

There was a definite buzz in the air, as 50 players took to their seats. Armed to the teeth with chips, an add-on and re-buy arsenal.
As with any good poker tournament, you are bound to sit at a table where you have to go up against a player you know. And so was the case on this occasion.
Table 1: Amalia, Shaun Scholtz, Shaun Schutte, Ricky Colloins and Louis Koch
Table 2: Mike Barfoot, Derek Hebbert and Malcom Stockdale
Table 3: Stef Kruger
And this is how it went down…

Shaun Scholtz:
Exit 1-40th or so
Blinds 300/600.
Ricky calls on the button with A6 hearts ,small blind calls ,Sean checks his KQ ( i think ).
Flop Jh10c2h. Ricky checks, small blind checks, Scholtz raises to 600, Ricky calls, small blind fold.
Turn – brick, Ricky checks, Shaun bets again, Ricky calls, river 9hearts.
Ricky Hollywoods and checks the nuts, Sean bets 1k, Ricky repops to 3k, Sean over the top all in , Ricky calls. Doubles to 13k(Shaun Rebuys)
Exit 2- Must have also been around 40th place. Missed that action.

Manny Lourenco:
Exit-40th or so
Missed this action but was also an early finisher at around 40th place.

Malcolm Stockdale:
Exit- 35th or so.
8k in the pot, went all in with pocket jack and 27k. Was called down with pocket King, preflop.

Derek Hebbert:
Exit- 23rd or so
Missed his hand.

Shaun Schutte:
Exit- 19th
Blinds were at 4K/8K. Was in the cut off, big stack at the table limped position before him. Shaun had 3 BB’s left and shoved with Ah 7h … with only an extra 17K to call big stack calls and turns over A5 off. All blanks on the board until the river where he spikes a 5.

Louis Koch:
Exit- 16th
Blinds 4k and 8k. Early middle position with A 6 offsuit, player before Loius put a raise on the table but didnt announced raise so it was just a call for 8k. Louis raised all in with  35K figuring this is my chance to do something, to have a chance at the final table. everyone else folded and he called with J 10 suited. I actually liked the situation although i was marginally favorite preflop. Flop comes with A K 5, with his top pair, then a blank on the turn and the River, Q!!!!!!! he makes a straight.

Amalia das Neves:
Exit-15th
No add-on at break and walked in with 12 000 shorstack. Managed to grind up to 24 000 and then started to bleed. Went down to shortsatck again, BB with Q8 and under the gun, shoved K2 and Amalia had to call and missed the board.

Stef Kruger:
Exit- 11th
Avergaed a stack of 30 000 after the break. Card dead for about 30 hands and eventually picked up A( suited in cut-off. Shoved 19 000. Walked into Button who had KK.

Mike Barfoot:
Exit-9th
He must have been the chip leader for a good part of the tourney. He was short stacked at final table. I think just before the blinds got to him he went all in with KQ suited, the big stack called him with a J9 off and it came on the flop.

Ricky Collins:
Placed- 4th
Doubled up by Sean early. Knocked out Manny and then Loose cannon doubled him up again when both hit 2 pair on the flop ( my K9 held up in the big blind ).
Added on at the break up to 35k. Got cards after that but not great flops. Big stack at the table took 13k off and Ricky eventually dwindled down to 11k.
Got pocket AA on the button – doubled. Then pocket 1010 – took the blinds. 35k.. Cowboys – doubled up against A7 spades. 70k.
Final table- Solid play. Ricky’s AQ wins a race against QQ(Forget this players name but has cashed in All Africa) – doubled.
Players start to drop as the chip leader starts knocking people to the rails with real loose and lucky calls.
Exit came blinds 8/16, Short stack 48k first to act 44 all in, small blind calls, big blind calls. Flop Kd5d3d.. small blind check, big blind raise, small blind call. Turn Ah. Small blind check, big blind all in. Small blind folds 88. Big blind on a gut shot straight draw with JhQd.. river Qc.
Gone in 4th Payout R3175
