Phil’s insane attempt at breaking the previous record world record of the worlds longest poker session started on Wednesday. The previous mark was held by Paul Zimbler who set the mark at an astonishing 78hours and 45mins!

Towards the end of the record attempt, Phil dodged doom as he past in and out of drowsiness where he involuntarily kept closing his eyelids! He broke the record an set the new mark at 80hours of continuous play!

I guess after this insane record, Phil will recover by sleeping for the next year!

The final table was set with the season’s top poker players seated and gunning for the golden title of Poker Shuffle Champion! the support on the side of the table was as big as ever, with previous final table finishers supporting the players.

This final table was a bit different from the previous seasons in that the play was aggressive from the word go! The fact that there were some monster hands dealt , also added to this aggressive play. The hands were so big that each player had thought that they had been dealt the nuts, only to be left crippled by all-in play!

The final three places were sorted very quickly with just about one hand. Louis Koch,was the eventual winner with Matt Walker 2nd and David Zhaymes 3rd. Louis was very very pleased with his win and attributed it to strong and consistent play throughout the season.

The International Mind Sport Association(IMSA) has officially recognized poker as a mind sport alongside other mind sports such as chess and bridge.

IMSA President Jose Damiani said the magic words (in bold) after a meeting in Dubai:

“I am delighted to welcome the International Federation of Poker into membership of IMSA. Poker’s participation alongside bridge, chess and other mind sports in the annual IMSA events will demonstrate to the world that poker is indeed a mind-sport of strategic skill.”

Founder of the International Federation of Poker, Anthony Holden welcomes poker to the list with open arms.

“Poker will now form part of IMSA’s World Mind Sports Games, due to be held in the UK in 2012 alongside the London Olympics. And next year IFP will be launching poker’s first annual world championships, both team and individual,.”

The quastion now begs to be asked- What is the future of poker and will this lead to a new league of poker player?

In many respects, these Terms and Conditions are set out to protect the players rights and protect them from fraudsters and fraudulent activities such as collusion etc.

The main ‘law’ is that of having only one account per household. Yes, you read correctly!

Players are not allowed to create, use, or deposit to more than one account. Violators of this rule are subject to an account review which may lead to account suspension and forfeiture of accumulated funds. This also extends to the fact that you may only have one account per poker room per household! This has raised many issues within the poker community due the fact that most households(including my own) is made of avid poker lovers.

How do we get around this problem? The answer is fairly simple, each member should choose one poker room to play in and remember not to multi-account Id be keen to hear your thoughts on this issue.
